W. Marston (Marty) Becker is the Chairman of the Board of QBE Insurance Group (ASX.- QBE.AU) headquartered in Sydney, Australia writing over $15 billion in premium through operations on 5 continents.
Mr. Becker is a seasoned insurance executive with a career that spans 35 years in leadership roles principally as Chairman and/or CEO for publicly traded and private insurance, reinsurance and insurance brokerage organizations. Most recently he was CEO of Alterra Capital (Nasdaq-ALTE) in Bermuda.
In addition to QBE, he currently serves as Chairman of West Virginia Media Holdings and on the Board of Brickstreet Mutual insurance company, Source One Financial – a mortgage banker for the recreational vehicle industry, Dorado Insurance in Hamilton, Bermuda and the Mountain Companies – a southeastern US construction firm. He also serves on the advisory board of American Securities Fund and Cohesive Capital.
Non-profit activities include the West Virginia University Board of Governor’s, the West Virginia Chamber and the Clay Center for the Arts with previous service as a director of the Association of Bermuda Insurers and Reinsurers, The Reinsurance Association of America, the American Insurance Association, Hartford Hospital, West Virginia/United Hospital System, the West Virginia Roundtable, the West Virginia University Foundation and the Blanchette Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute. Various Awards have been bestowed on Mr. Becker including the WVU Academy of Distinguished Alumni, the WV Business Hall of Fame, the Leading CPA in Business Award of the WV Society of CPA’s, the Delta Tau Delta National Achievement Award.
Mr. Becker is married to Katharine Becker with two children, James and Todd, and resides in Jupiter, Florida and Charleston, West Virginia.
